Foundation/PolioPlus Chair Ming Chiang (Amityville Rotary) has returned from Berlin where he was a panelist at the World Forum for Democracy. The worldwide event focused on current threats to worldwide democracies. Ming also received an award for his sponsoring of a film about Taiwan and as a result he was asked to take part in the forum. Among the dignitaries he spent time with were Hilary Clinton, Helen Mirren and (shown with Ming) Bob Geldof, political activist (i.e., LIVE-AID) and Ban-Ki-Moon, former secretary General of the United Nations.
Also, May is Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month (AAPIHM), a month-long celebration which recognizes the contributions of Asian American and Pacific Islanders. To kickoff the month, President Biden and several of AAPI congressional members invited a small group of AAPI leaders to Washington DC. Amityville Rotarian Ming Chiang and his assistant, Darren Yang, represent Hello Taiwan, an organization formed to promote Taiwan and its culture. They were invited to meet with the President, Senators Tammy Duckworth, Mazie Hirono, Rep. Ted Lieu and Raja Krishnamoorthi in Washington, DC. Shown in the photo below are Ming (left) and Darren with President Joe Biden.
